This week we covered Motivation, Norman’s “Two Gulfs” and Johnson’s notes on Visual Perception. I was most fascinated with the information about how the eye works, and why these principles are important to and related to design. These are concepts that we as designers need to remember, along with aesthetics, design principles and color theory. Sometimes the general framework of design fails to accomplish the task that is required, whether because of user or environmental limitations. I appreciated the detail of they physiology of the eye and vision, as I don’t feel l knew several of these data points.

We were also tasked with describing a positive and negative UX example. I was happy to see that my positive example, which was actually an implementation by my wife, was so well received by the class. I thought it was a brilliant idea, but was excited to pass on the news to my wife that several classmates took to the idea and would be using it themselves.
